About the Ryder Cup
Ryder Cup is a men’s golf competition established back in 1927 and held every two years. However, ever since 1921 there were attempts to hold a glamorous and consistent tournament of this sort for golf. In this event, every other year there are teams of Europe and USA competing with each other.
Each team has got 12 players and five matches take place before the winner is announced. The teams compete in match play. The name of the Cup was given, as tribute to the businessman who donated the trophy (Samuel Ryder from the UK). The competition takes place in September or early October, most likely due to the mild climatic conditions in autumn.
Statistically, the US has been leading the way in terms of wins over losses. It is worth noting that from 1927 till 1977, USA competed against Great Britain (and then Great Britain and Ireland). From then on or else from 1979, it is USA against Europe. Overall wins for US go up to 25.
The matches are always impressive and catch universal attention, especially among golfers and connoisseurs of this sport. A lot of amazing players have taken part in this tournament, displaying their skills and talent in a welcoming environment and with full coverage from the channels we have pointed out above.
